John C Haynes & Co. Style no. 1 Parlour Guitar with W. B. Tilton “Improvement” - c.1870

This is what you call a time machine! Made circa 1870, they must have had some pretty crazy technology going on, because aside from the amazing plate in the sound-hole and bracing rod that runs through its centre, this thing has the ability to send you across the ages. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped off a box car into the old west. It sounds magnificent and sings with a voice that’s seen it all! The shallow but steep V cut neck is completely engaging and you’ll almost swear the guitar is amplified somehow. Does this all sound a bit ridiculous? Maybe, until you play it!  It features a spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back & sides and an ebony fretboard. This one has had some work done by a local luthier called Ian Watchorn and has a label inside mentioning this and dated 2009. Comes with its original, and very cool, red-lined coffin case
