A beautiful vintage guitar with a lovely patina. It’s in great shape for it’s age even though a few parts have been changed out, but I’ll get to that later. Firstly, what a wonderful neck this guitar has! I owned a 1960 version of this and it had the same neck; hard to describe; C shape er, and, perfect! That’s all I’ve got! It rings like a bell just playing it acoustically and this is enhanced when plugged in. The neck pickup is a later Japanese unit (also pickup surround) and sounds pretty nice, the original bridge pickup has that lovely Gretsch bite, both pickups on together complement each other. The body thickness is 2 ¼” which adds a nice tightness to the tone but still airy with plenty of that great Gretsch sound. The knobs have been changed to newer versions and the vintage Waverley tuners look the part and work great but are probably not original to this guitar. All in all this is a great guitar that one could easily sit around and noodle on all day, and maybe all night, (until you get kicked out of your own house!) A Piers Crocker refret with original style wire helps make this one play like a winner; which could be you if you decide to buy it! Comes with a vintage Gretsch Country Gent case.
