Hofner President E2 Brunette - 1964
First impression of this old Hofner arch top? This thing looks beautiful! The brunette two-tone burst original finish is lovely on its spruce top; flip it over and there’s some cool flame Maple on the back of its double-bound body. Just a beautiful looking thing with the Hofner lyre-style tailpiece and tortoiseshell pickguard. Scroll inlay on the headstock looks amazing and the frets are in pretty good shape with some minor grooves up in the first couple but nothing to worry the intonation of this guitar. The nitty gritty; The neck is a lovely medium C shape, nice and straight, plenty of fret life, two rewound pickups (Humbucker in bridge and an exceptionally quite single coil in the neck), neck-set is very good, neck heel joint has been re-glued; a typical repair on these; It’s nice and stable and the guitar stays in tune. This is a really sweet guitar; it plays great, looks great and sounds great; it’s hard to put down! Comes with a 60’s Guild Ess & Ess hard shell case.
