Martin D-18 - 1966
This sweet-sounding D-18 has been gigged and loved over the years. It features a spruce top, mahogany back and sides and tortoiseshell binding on the top and back; which indicates early 1966, as this changed to black binding later that year. Original Grover pat-pending tuners are still intact and work perfectly. A Brazilian roseboard fingerboard and headstock veneer, and a nice refret at some stage, all make this one a lovely guitar to play. There are small dings/scratches here and there but no top cracks or crack repairs just some nice checking on the top. The bridge has been changed at some stage as well. These were used by many great stars over the years, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Paul Simon, just to name a few. It’s the type of guitar that gives you something back instantly in the form of a song idea; I’m working on one right now! This is a lovely guitar to sit on the couch and strum with its beautiful mid-range punch; I can’t help thinking that this guitar would sound great with a mic in front of it, set up for recording. Comes with its original hard shell case.
