Teisco TG-64 Sunburst - 1965
An interesting Teisco model that features a cut-out section on the upper body bout, sometimes called a monkey grip, that pre-dates the Ibanez GEM series by close to a couple of decades! Playability is good although fret height is about 50-60%, but, they were never too high to begin with. Board is reasonably flat and the neck is a comfortable C shape. Body is heavy (think 70’s Les Paul) and overall weight is 9.27 lbs. Pickups sound great with nice tones; kinda like Mark Knopfler’s Strat tones; good for surf music or even punk with a bit of distortion. It could be a great studio guitar too with quite a few different sounds coming from the three pickups. Headstock tip has broken off at some stage and has been glued back on; pretty stable too. Has numerous dings and small chips etc. Tremolo arm is missing. Certainly a cool guitar to look at with the monkey grip and 4-2 tuners being a nice touch. No case.
