Yamaha SG-5A Turquoise Metallic - 1968
An interesting guitar with some delightful tones. This guitar has an awesome original turquoise metallic finish coupled with a slight V shape flame-maple neck that’s had a pro refret and plays great! There’s some nice warmth and depth from these pickups that you may not expect and even the highs from the bridge pickup have a nice mellow quality! There’s something about these guitars that makes me think of the evolving spirit Yamaha had with their motorcycles back in the same period; Sharply innovative and clever ingenuity to bring a new inflection on guitar making for the era. Condition is good for it age with a few small dings here and there and one particularly weird ding on the top bout that looks like a small 1cm square! Weight is a nice 7.4 lbs and it has the original tremolo arm which are usually missing. The double bridge pickup has a blend knob so you can move from one coil to the other or have both on at the same time; a cool idea. This would make a great guitar to add to anyone’s collection or a very handy studio guitar, and, it’s really fun to play! Comes with a hard shell case.
