Fender Precision Bass Pre L Series Natural Refin - 1963
By Fender
This 1963 Fender P Bass has done a lot of gigs, and it shows; the body and neck were refinished a long time ago, it’s had a refret, and a good one with plenty of meat left; the frets are in great shape too. One might expect a bass that looks like this, rough and worn, to not play that great, and does it, you ask? Well, no…it plays amazingly great! The “C” neck doesn’t feel bulky at all, the action is low and sleek and your fingers glide along the fingerboard with ease; it almost plays itself! This is a pre-L series bass and the neck date is April 63C. An old body refinish back to the wood has uncovered a natural “GT stripe” in the grain; I don’t mind that; it looks cool. It has a changed volume pot; pretty much a given for a well-gigged bass. The original pickups sound absolutely beautiful; I can’t think of any other words here but I’ll try; they are sweet, round and fat and have great sustain; they have the quintessential Precision Bass tone. This cracker P bass comes in a Yamaha bass case. If you want a killer-playing vintage P bass, here it is.
