Baxendale Mike Cooley Signature - 2006
By Baxendale
This Baxendale ‘Cooleycaster’ is the signature model of Mike Cooley from the ‘Drive by Truckers’ and is made by luthier Scott Baxendale. With a chambered body, resembling a Tele crossed with a Danelectro (two of my favourite guitars!), a classic Tele-style bridge with brass saddles, and humbuckers in both positions, you can get a wide variety of tones from warm jazz to chicken pickin’! It has a nice weight, 7.23lbs/3.28kg, light but not flimsy-feeling, a little bit of width and V shape to the neck that make it feel roomy but not cumbersome. It’s a pleasing guitar to play and listen to and also to look at; the top is flamey and so is the back of the neck. The pickups are Seymour Duncan; a Hot Rails pickup in the bridge and a PAF-style humbucker in the neck. This is a cool guitar and they rarely turn up for sale; it’s also signed by Mike Cooley and Scott Baxendale on the back of the headstock! Comes with a gig bag.
