Jansen Stratophonic Cherry Red - c.1966
By Jansen
Done a few gigs this one but still going strong. This is a super-rare Jansen Stratophonic made in New Zealand c.1966. Not many made and very hard to even find a pic on Google! It plays very nice with a slim neck and a slick, low action, pickups are single coil and have a lovely vintage tone. Frets have a some light wear and everything seems to work the way it’s supposed to. It sports the ES335-style look but is in fact a hollowbody. I’m loving the triple-binding along the fingerboard and the subtle flame maple wood is great on this one. Tuners were changed many moons ago. It has a cool 3 way volume switch which helps with different tones. There’s a filled hole in the side that and plenty of small chips, dings, buckle-wear and scratches that make this thing look awesome! Yes, I do like a beat up guitar! To top it off, it’s light and very easy to play! Weight is ridiculous at 5.94lbs/2.70kg. This piece of New Zealand guitar history, comes with a gig bag.
