Ovation Legend 1617 Sunburst - 1981
By Ovation
When I pick up this guitar and play it I instantly think of Glen Campbell and when I think of Glen Campbell, a story from Alice Cooper comes to mind about him and Glen playing golf. It’s a great story and you should really look it up on YouTube. Alas, I digress. These guitars are so underrated; this one has a beautiful neck, a wonderful, balanced, earthy sound and it has the Lyrachord bowl-back; a bit of aerospace technology goin’ on there. Frets are in great shape and it looks as though it hasn’t actually had much use over the years. Ovation have an interesting history; go to their website and have a read. It sounds beautiful acoustically and also sounds pretty darn good plugged in. Condition is amazing for its age with minimal lacquer checking. No top cracks or repairs, although someone has had a silly little sticker on the top that has left a dark circle. This is just a good-playing and sounding, and well-looked after, American-made Ovation from the 80’s. It comes with its original brown hardshell case.
