Alver 2C Acoustic Model by Maton - c.1962
By Maton
This is a nice student guitar made by Maton from 1960-1971. It has a plywood construction, to keep the price low for beginners, but the sound isn’t as “boxey” as the “plywood construction” term would leave you to believe! It plays good, strings are a bit old, but it’s got something; a nice articulated tone, good for open chords and single-line riffs or lead lines, this would be a good little asset in a recording environment where a “different” sounding guitar could be used for another guitar part in a song. More importantly, it would be a nice little companion to sit on the back porch with a beer on a sunny day! The neck is reasonably straight, action is good, neck set is good and there’s plenty of fret life too! Oh yeah, it just looks cool! It comes with, what I think, is its original case.
